This is a last call to complete the Business Readiness Survey. Please complete this new survey, even if you completed the first readiness survey back in May 2023. This will help us gauge improvements in readiness and any changes to your favoured communication channels.
This survey is part of our commitment to listen to, and work with, all sectors of industry affected by the Collection and Packaging Reforms (CPR). The survey will only take you five minutes to complete and will help to identify any changes we need to make to ensure our key audience groups are engaged and are effectively communicated with. This survey will close on Friday 1 December 2023.
November’s Resources and Waste Forums

EPR Scheme Administrator – Steering Group
The recruitment process continues for members of the Steering Group. Also, find out how we are working to involve the value chain in the group’s design and development.
Modulated fees engagement and future events

Local Authority Payments Service
User research sessions have been held to understand the different processes local authorities use to submit data to Waste Data Flow.
Efficiency and Effectiveness project
This project will develop a methodology for the Scheme Administrator to use when assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of local authority packaging.
Evaluating the Resources and Waste Strategy
Defra is measuring the impact of policies introduced to preserve and protect the natural environment, as set out in the Resources and Waste Strategy.
Digital Waste Tracking service
A new UK-wide web-based service will make it easier to track waste in the system, seeing where it’s created, what’s done to it and where it ends up.
Materials Facilities Sampling Regulations
Legislation to enhance sampling and reporting requirements for materials facilities was made on 27 October 2023. The changes now include facilities previously not in scope.
Simpler Recycling additional Q&As
We respond to questions we have received on Simpler Recycling following the Local Authority and Waste Management Webinar on 24 October 2023 about the recent waste reforms announcement.

Resources and Waste December Forum
For December we are merging our three forums – Business Readiness, Local Authority and Waste Management – into one single meeting.
