Get ready for changes to Scottish environmental authorisations
From 1st November 2025, the regulation of waste management, water and industrial activities will move under the Environmental Authorisation (Scotland) Regulations 2018 (EASR). To support this transition, we’ve launched a brand-new Authorisations and Compliance section on our website.

We’ve also added detailed information about the transition to EASR, so you can clearly understand what’s changing and how to prepare. If you currently have an authorisation, you should look at the Moving to the new Regulations section of our website to see what, if anything, you need to do.
You will be able to apply for EASR authorisations for waste management, water and industrial activities from 1st November 2025.
