In October 2023, the Serbian National Assembly adopted the amendments to the National Public Procurement Act. The amendments will be applicable from 01 January 2024. The changes relate to:
- introducing quality rather than price as a key criterion for selecting certain services/goods,
- introducing principles of environmental protection in the awarding of public procurement and
- specifying the initiation of misdemeanor proceedings in case of illegal spending of public procurement funds.
This amendment is in line with the goals defined in the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans and its aim to promote the principle of environmental protection in the region.
