Reminder that companies placing products on the EU market (and Northern Ireland) that contain intentional microplastics, which continue to be allowed, are subject to reporting requirements. Reports made to ECHA are being monitored to ensure that over time the amounts of microplastics derogated under the REACH legislation progressively fall, and to demonstrate the measures in place to prevent emissions.
A failure over time to prove reductions is likely to lead to changes to legislation to force reductions.
IVDs received a specific derogation, and EU manufacturers or importers must report the amounts placed on the EU market.
