Dear members,
Please see below MedTech Europe Update on the EU proposed classification of Trifluoroacetic Acid (TFA) – the proposal is as below, and then MedTech Europe’s response based on feedback received from the sector.
ECHA consultation on the proposed CLH updated classification of Trifluoroacetic Acid (TFA).
Background:
The German authorities (BAuA) have put forward this proposal, to update the existing CLH classification of TFA. The present hazard classification is:
- Acute Tox. 4;
- Skin Corr. 1A;
- Aquatic Chronic 3.
The updated classification proposal now suggests:
- Acute Tox. 3;
- Skin Corr. 1A;
- Repr. 1B;
- Aquatic Chronic 3;
- PMT;
- vPvM.
The CLH detailed report on these proposed additional hazard classes is available at the link here.
Dear members,
I hope you are all well.
We are following-up on the communication below regarding the recent proposal from Germany to update the CLH classification of TFA.
Based on the feedback from members, at this stage, we have little input and impact on members to engage in this specific process. We will continue to monitor this initiative, and should there be other regulatory measures around this substance (beyond the PFAS Restriction), we will inform members.
On a separate note, as TFA is still a relevant chemical in the context of the PFAS Restriction, we continue to engage on it as part of that avenue.
Please let us know if you have any questions or comments.
