The Offensive Waste stream is to become compulsory across the UK, forcing healthcare waste to be disposed of using alternative means or in ways that render this waste safe.
This is intended to reduce CO2 emissions associated with incineration and cut the volume of healthcare waste sent to landfills.
These requirements have different implementation dates depending on location, with the final deadlines in May/June this year.
