Update from MTE Chemicals WG. If any members are impacted they need to let use know.
Dear members,
I hope this email finds you well.
We would like to follow up with you on a few substances on which members were recently consulted on and inform you of the outcomes:
- Octamethyltrisiloxane (EC 203-497-4, CAS 107-51-7): On 30 August, ECHA launched a consultation on its proposal to identify the substance as an SVHC. The deadline for commenting was set to today, 14 October. Following the input received by members, MedTech Europe will not contribute to the consultation, as no/little impact was flagged by members on this specific silicone.
- Ethanol (EC 200-578-6, CAS 64-17-5): Some members flagged the substance, currently reviewed under BPR, as potentially impacting them (similar concern as for EtO). During the face-to-face meeting on the 3 October, members were asked to provide feedback on the impact/relevance. A limited number of members expressed interest to date; therefore, we would like to have a last call for members to send input on ethanol by 21 October.
- Silver nitrate (EC 231-853-9, CAS 7761-88-8): The substance was flagged by some members due to the potential CLH Repr. 1B Human Health classification and was discussed during the face-to face meeting on 3 October. We would like to ask members to indicate whether they are impacted by the new potential classification and if MedTech Europe should engage by 21 October.
