Evaluation of the Biocidal Products Regulation: last days to contribute to the Call for Evidence and public consultation |
| You may still provide your feedback, until 5 March 2025 (midnight Brussels time), to the Call for Evidence and public consultation published by the Commission in the context of the evaluation of the Biocidal Products Regulation (EU) No 528/2012 (the BPR). The call and consultation are open to citizens, companies, industry associations, Member States competent authorities, NGOs, and other interested parties that wish to give their views.
The BPR, applicable since 1 September 2013, sets rules for the making available on the market and use of biocidal products and articles treated with such products. Biocidal products are used to control unwanted organisms that are harmful to human or animal health or to the environment, or that cause damage to materials or human activities, including pests (for example, insects, rats or mice) and microorganisms (for example, bacteria, viruses or mould). A report adopted by the Commission in June 2021 identified several issues that hinder the proper functioning of the BPR rules and paved the way for this evaluation of the BPR to assess if the current rules are fit for purpose. The Call for Evidence and the public consultation are an opportunity for contributors to express their views and share insights on the implementation of the BPR. They will be complemented by targeted consultations in the context of the study that will support the evaluation.
