Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (or DEHP) is a substance used in blood bags and tubing. In accordance with Article 56(1) of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, such uses of DEHP are not allowed after the sunset date unless an authorisation has been granted for a particular use, or unless an application for authorisation for a given use was submitted before the latest application date and a decision on the application has not yet been taken. The EC have extended the sunset date for DHEP under EU REACH regulation, for MD and IVD devices, in line with extended transition time frames of the MDR and IVDR.
