European Commission decisions on applications for authorisation
The Commission has granted authorisations for uses of the following substances (review period expiry dates in brackets):

- 1 use applied for by Becton Dickinson Distribution Center NV (4 January 2028)
4-Nonylphenol, branched and linear, ethoxilated (4-NPnEO) (EC -, CAS -)
- 1 use applied for by Bio-Rad (4 January 2033)
4-(1,1,3,3-Tetra methylbutyl)phenol, ethoxylated (4-tert-OPnEO) (EC -, CAS -)
- 4 uses applied for by Bio-Rad (1 use: 4 January 2028; 3 uses: 4 January 2033)
Testing proposals
We have launched 22 new consultations on testing proposals. Give your comments by 22 May 2023.
There are currently 33 open consultations on testing proposals.
Assessment of regulatory needs reports published
Reports for the following substance groups are now available on our website:
- arylamino anthraquinones
- aliphatic sulfonic acids, hydroxyalkanesulfonic acids and their salts
- EDTA-related acids and salts
- acrylates and methacrylates – the report includes:
- acrylates and methacrylates with linear or branched aliphatic alcohols, simple acids and salts; and
- esters from acrylic and methacrylic acid and aliphatic cyclic alcohols, polyols and ether alcohols (other than methanol and ethanol)
Court dismisses action against Commission’s compliance check decision
On 29 March 2023, the General Court dismissed in its entirety an action brought against European Commission’s compliance check decision requesting two reproductive toxicity studies, as well as a dose-range finding study for one of them.
This is the first case where the General Court had to assess a compliance check decision under REACH adopted by the Commission, and ECHA was supporting the Commission as intervener in the case. See more details in case T-868/19.
