ECHA receives more than 5 600 comments on PFAS restriction proposal
More than 4 400 organisations, companies and individuals submitted comments and information on the proposal to restrict per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the European Economic Area.
REACH
ECHA’s screening finds REACH registrations in breach of update obligation
We carried out two campaigns during 2021-2023 to remind companies of their obligation to keep their REACH registrations up to date. As a result, 57 registrations were reported to the national enforcement authorities for further action.
European Commission adopts microplastics restriction
The Commission has adopted a restriction under the REACH Regulation, which limits the use of intentionally added microplastics in products such as cosmetics, detergents and artificial sports pitches. It will prevent the release to the environment of about half a million tonnes of microplastics. The restriction proposal was prepared by ECHA in early 2019.
New substance evaluation conclusion published for CORAP substances
Bis(α,α-dimethylbenzyl) peroxide (EC 201-279-3, CAS 80-43-3) was added to the Community rolling action plan (CORAP) list in 2015 and evaluated by Norway.

European Commission decisions on active substances
Commission decision not approving:
- silver sodium hydrogen zirconium phosphate as an existing active substance for product-type 4.

New approach methodologies workshop report published
You can now read the report summarising the workshop. We have also published a video where speakers and participants of the event reflect on what is needed to transition to an animal-free regulatory system for industrial chemicals.
