Our new guidance paves way for better protection of bees from biocides
The guidance helps companies and authorities assess the risks to bees from biocidal active substances and products. It is part of wider EU initiatives that aim to reverse pollinator decline by 2030 and preserve biodiversity.

New substance evaluation conclusion published for CoRAP substance
- Diethylmethylbenzenediamine (EC 270-877-4, CAS 68479-98-1) was added to the Community rolling action plan (CoRAP) list in 2016 and evaluated by Denmark.
Call for evidence: restriction preparation on certain chromium (VI) substances
The deadline for the on-going call for evidence on certain chromium (VI) substances has been extended.

Consultations on applications for authorisation
We have launched consultations on four applications for authorisation and six review reports covering 13 uses of:
- Chromium trioxide (EC 215-607-8, CAS 1333-82-0)
- Used in the functional chrome plating of helicopter transmission parts and the treatment of their surfaces to prevent corrosion.
- Used in the manufacture of printed circuit boards.
- Used in the treatment of components used in industrial gas turbines and associated components.
- Sodium dichromate (EC 234-190-3, CAS 10588-01-9)
- Used in the treatment of metals, composites and sealings of anodic films, in the production of transmissions for helicopters and their maintenance.
- Used in the formulation of mixtures intended for supply for authorised uses.
- Potassium dichromate (EC 231-906-6, CAS 7778-50-9)
- Use of potassium dichromate-based mixtures during the etching of CZT layers in the production of opto-electronic components.
- Arsenic acid (EC 231-901-9, CAS 7778-39-4)
- Used in the manufacture of printed circuit boards.
- 2-ethylhexyl 10-ethyl-4,4-dioctyl-7-oxo-8-oxa-3,5-dithia-4-stannatetradecanoate (EC 239-622-4, CAS 15571-58-1)
- Used for the formulation of mixtures containing DOTE.
- Used for the formulation of PVC dry mixtures (granules and pellets) containing DOTE.
- Used for the manufacture of PVC articles containing DOTE as stabiliser.
- Tetraethyllead (EC 201-075-4, CAS 78-00-2)
- Used for the formulation of aviation fuel.

4-hydroxy-4-methylpentan-2-one; diacetone alcohol (EC 204-626-7, CAS 123-42-2); and

Biocides
Prepare your summary of biocidal product characterics now in IUCLID
If you are applying to have your biocidal product authorised at EU or national level, you now need to prepare the summary of product characteristics (SPC) in IUCLID. The SPC Editor has been phased out.
The Biocides Submission Manuals have been updated to help you navigate the change in SPCs.
