It was set out in the consultation response in 2023 that:
If waste does not leave the site where it was originally produced but the waste is deposited, recovered, or treated under an environmental waste permit or licence, then Digital Waste Tracking records will be needed.
This is necessary as when the full Digital Waste Tracking service is launched, separate permitted or licenced site waste returns will not be required.
Since our announcement of the new phased implementation of the Digital Waste Tracking service, we have received questions from a number of operators of permits held for these sorts of activities at the site of waste production, asking for clarity on whether these types of waste receiving sites are included in Phase 1 of the implementation.
Following further consultation with the Governments and regulators across the UK, we have agreed that our joint position is that these permitted or licensed activities will be included in Phase 1 of the implementation.
If you operate under these permits, we encourage you to:
- Register your interest by joining the waste tracking user panel.
- Apply for Private Beta Testing by completing our online form. This will allow you to voluntarily test the report receipt of waste service.
