Dear members, please see attached EU proposal to expand the Carbon Border Adjustment mechanism to avoid circumvention and expand the scope to products that contain high net carbon materials (e.g. steel/iron, aluminium, glass). This includes Laboratory equipment and parts. This import tax would apply to goods imported into the EU. The UK is negotiating to see if it can be included within the EU CBAM mechanism on the principle that the UK will also implement similar requirements on UK imports.
