CARB-X and collaboration with The Centre for Process Innovation (CPI)

By April 10, 2026No Comments

We would like to share an update on behalf of Anthony Celli, HealthTech Sector Business Development Director at the Centre for Process Innovation (CPI) which may be of significant interest to members.

The message is below and we would encourage any members who are interested to find out more, to contact Anthony directly via the contact details he has supplied:

CPI supports the end‑to‑end development of diagnostics, spanning assay development, microfluidics, device engineering, materials and manufacturability, analytical and clinical validation support, and regulated scale‑up. We work collaboratively with SMEs, academia, and industry to de‑risk technologies and accelerate their progression towards clinical and commercial adoption.

We are currently shaping a collaborative consortium bid to CARB‑X, specifically aligned to their recent call focused on neonatal sepsis diagnostics. The opportunity aims to support innovative diagnostic platforms capable of delivering rapid, actionable results for neonatal care, addressing a critical unmet clinical and antimicrobial‑resistance challenge.

As part of this activity, we are keen to engage with SMEs and technology developers with relevant expertise, including (but not limited to):

  • Novel assay technologies or biomarkers
  • Rapid, point‑of‑care or near‑patient diagnostic platforms
  • Enabling technologies (sample prep, microfluidics, detection, data/AI)
  • Neonatal or low‑volume sample handling experience

CPI would act as a development and translation partner within the consortium, supporting technical integration, scale‑up, and pathway development, while working alongside SMEs and clinical stakeholders to strengthen the overall CARB‑X proposal.

I would be very happy to arrange a short call to discuss this further with any interested party, provide additional detail on CPI’s role, or explore how best to engage the community. Can any interested parties please email me at anthony.celli@uk-cpi.com.
