The Office for Life Sciences is spotlighting how research organisations, namely UK Biobank, Genomics England and Our Future Health, can support SMEs. This week, they are highlighting the latter charity.
Our Future Health is the UK’s largest ever health research programme, designed to develop new ways to prevent, detect and treat diseases. Their mission is to create an incredibly detailed picture of the UK population’s health, by recruiting up to five million adult volunteers from across the UK who each fill out a questionnaire and provide a blood sample that can be linked to their health records.
This presents health researchers with a powerful tool to identify new ways of tackling diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and dementia.
This document sets out how SMEs can obtain access to Our Future Health’s data for unparalleled insight into the causes of disease. This includes joining their early adopter programme and support for data analysis across numerous fields.
Our Future Health is also working with UKRI to design a data access scheme in which UKRI cover a proportion of the data access fees for UK-based SMEs. This should be live in the Autumn.
